I haven’t seen “Coach Carter.” I’ll add it onto my queue.

No review of “Hoosiers” on your website. I wanted to read your take on it.

But I did read your review of “Hoop Dreams.” It’s one of those movies I keep pushing back to watch… Ebert & Siskel loved it.

This is one of the darker stains in the history of mockumentary filmmaking, a sub-genre I actually enjoy. Yeah, I say avoid this one.

I have to agree with you that the third and the fourth entries were not as strong as this one… even if you combined those two. Despite the 2 stars, I give this a lukewarm recommendation, though. I had fun watching it (and so did my parents, I’ve been told).

I’m actually not surprised it didn’t do better. Admittedly, I wasn’t excited to watch it because I knew that it was going to be heavy on politics. But I think it worked because it was good as a drama and as a thriller.

I’ve never been the biggest admirer of HOOSIERS. There’re simply better films in the pantheon of basketball.

Ah, I am afraid to say I can’t agree with you here. Real Steel had good character development, which took it a looong way through the film, but I felt the story never held up.

I didn’t mind this film, as a dark mindless comedy I found it quite fun. Although, 3 and 4 set the bar pretty low, so my expectations weren’t great. Laser eye bit was really uncomfortable :) The actual characters were so boring, but I enjoyed rooting for them to die (something to address in later life)
